#1. Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity

Teachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments. Teachers:

promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness

  • engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources
  • promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students' conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes
  • model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments

SOCIAL BOOKMARKING

I think that social bookmarking is a useful tool in a number of ways. First, it allows educators to connect and share information in an organized and cohesive fashion on various topics. Secondly, it allow me to organize my information in one site. Avoiding the endless search for resources!!!

Collaboration Review

The Flat Classroom Project

I reviewed The Flat Classroom Project founded by Vicki Davis and Julie Lindsay. This project is a collaborative, global project for middle and senior high students. Students use Web 2.0 tools to communicate and interact with participating classrooms. The project focuses on hands-on activities directly related to The World is Flat by Thomas Friedman. Some example topics include, Trends, The Age of Connectivity and Work Flow Software. Students from around the world work together using various media, including Wiki, e-mail and skype to collaboratively complete activities. This site offers a variety of tools to help assist educators and students interested in completing this type of project, including resources templates and tools.
